Louis Calitz 

Biokineticist | Co-Founder

Louis is the co-founder of Calitz & Calitz Biokineticists and Kinetic Edge

Which  specialises in rehabilitation, performance, and return-to-sport.

He holds a degree in Human Movement Science and an Honours degree in Biokinetics from North-West University, and was recognized as a Golden Key member for academic excellence.

His clinical focus includes shoulder and knee rehabilitation, particularly post-operative care and complex injury management. Louis works closely with active individuals and athletes, using a structured, performance-driven approach to guide recovery and optimise movement.

He also has a strong interest in working with more complex and less common conditions, including Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), fibromyalgia, functional neurological disorders (FND), and sarcoidosis , applying a highly individualized and multidisciplinary approach to care.

Louis has experience working with  University first team rugby and Court sport athletes, bringing a strong understanding of high-performance environments into his practice.

In addition, he leads and facilitates a multidisciplinary network of healthcare professionals, creating a platform for collaboration, shared learning, and improved patient outcomes.

Since founding the practice in 2020, Louis has grown it into a multi-location clinic built around personalised care, objective testing, and long-term results.

Carina Calitz 

Biokineticist | Co-Founder

Carina is the co-founder of Calitz & Calitz Biokineticists and has a strong interest in spinal rehabilitation, movement health, and overall wellbeing.

She holds an undergraduate degree in Human Movement Science, as well as Honours degrees in Physiology and Biokinetics from North-West University.

 

She is also a qualified BASI Pilates instructor and runs her own Pilates studio, where she focuses on improving movement, control, and strength.

Carina has a particular passion for working with women during their pre- and post-pregnancy journey. She is a Co - Founder of Stroller Fit : a platform dedicated to supporting mothers as they return to physical activity, rebuild strength, and regain confidence in their bodies.

Her approach is centred around helping clients move freely and confidently through structured, evidence-based exercise. She places strong emphasis on creating a supportive and calm environment, where clients feel comfortable, understood, and guided throughout their journey.

Alongside Louis, Carina co-founded the practice’s wellness programme at the President Hotel in Bantry Bay. She plays a key role in overseeing and guiding the team involved in the programme, ensuring a high standard of care and a consistent, client-focused approach.

Kyle Zacks

Biokineticist

Kyle holds an undergraduate degree in Sports Science and an Honours degree in Biokinetics from Stellenbosch University.

He has a strong interest in sports injuries, neurological conditions, and chronic disease management, with a particular focus on lower back pain, disc herniations, nerve-related pain, and long-term conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS).

Kyle is especially passionate about working with older adults, helping them maintain independence, improve mobility, and enhance their overall quality of life.

He also leads one of the practice’s community outreach initiatives, where he mentors young biokineticists and works with residents at a local care facility in Sea Point : focusing on keeping the elderly active, mobile, and engaged.

Kyle’s approach is centred around making rehabilitation both effective and enjoyable, creating a positive and supportive environment for every client.

He plays an active role in the practice’s wellness programme at the President Hotel in Bantry Bay, working under Carina’s guidance to deliver structured, high-quality movement and rehabilitation sessions within a community setting. 

Outside of practice, he enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, and being with family.

Jessica Swinney

Biokineticist

Jessica holds an undergraduate degree in Sports Science and an Honours degree in Biokinetics from Stellenbosch University.

She has a strong interest in functional, sport-specific rehabilitation, working closely with athletes and active individuals involved in disciplines such as CrossFit, HYROX, and high-performance training environments.

Jessica’s clinical focus includes knee and ankle injuries, particularly ACL rehabilitation and return-to-sport. She is also highly skilled in assessing and managing more complex shoulder injuries, particularly cases that are often difficult to diagnose.

She is passionate about working with both current and developing athletes, helping them build strength, improve movement, and perform with confidence.

Known for her energetic and encouraging approach, Jessica creates a positive and motivating environment for her clients : pushing them to achieve their goals while ensuring safe and structured progression.

She is also involved in leading a wellness programme at the President Hotel in Bantry Bay, alongside the team, promoting movement, health, and performance within a broader community setting.

Jessica is part of the team contributing to the growth and future expansion of the practice, including upcoming developments in Internationally.

Leigh Clothier

Junior Biokineticist

Leigh holds an undergraduate degree in Sports Science and an Honours degree in Biokinetics from Stellenbosch University.

She has a strong interest in back and knee rehabilitation, neurological conditions, and general conditioning. Leigh works with a wide range of clients, focusing on improving movement, strength, and overall quality of life through structured, exercise-based rehabilitation.

Her approach is centered around empowering clients to take control of their health, combining injury prevention, rehabilitation, and goal-driven training to achieve long-term results.

Leigh is part of the team working under the guidance of senior practitioners within the practice, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care across all client journeys.

Outside of practice, she enjoys staying active through running, hiking, and playing padel with friends and family.
